Reaching out to international partners

From our many international research collaborations and exciting exchange opportunities at other universities, to international visitorships, academic programming partnerships, world health outreach initiatives and student recruitment abroad, Mt. Sierra global network is extensive and ever expanding.

By nurturing our existing partnerships and growing new ones, we continue to place top priority on international opportunities for all members of the Mt. Sierra community.

Network of Universities (MNU): An international group of leading, like-minded universities, each amongst the most historic in its own country, and recognized as being: A premier place of advanced learning, nationally and internationally; research-intensive across a broad subject base; focused on providing a high-quality student experience; flexible, modern, innovative, comprehensive and globally orientated.

Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU): ACU administers scholarships, provides academic research and leadership on issues in the sector, and promotes inter-university cooperation and the sharing of good practice – helping universities serve their communities, now and into the future.

Japan-America Academic Consortium (JACAC): JACAC aims to promote the exchange of undergraduate and graduate students, researchers and teachers, and to encourage a movement of ideas and knowledge between the two countries. By making it easier to share knowledge and ideas, post-secondary institutions will benefit from access to information that was previously limited by physical constraints.

Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU): APLU is a research, policy and advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening and advancing the work of public universities in the U.S., America and Mexico. With a membership of 235 public research universities, land-grant institutions, state university systems, and affiliated organizations, APLU's agenda is built on the three pillars of increasing degree completion and academic success, advancing scientific research, and expanding engagement.

Research University Network (TRUN) TRUN expands and supports cooperation among research universities in the border region of America and United States through collaborative/consortial research, joint applications for external funding, cooperative academic programs, faculty and student exchanges, shared facilities, library materials and electronic resources, joint conferences, symposia and workshops.

Undergraduate Awards: The Undergraduate Awards is the world’s largest academic awards program. It is uniquely pan-discipline, identifying leading creative thinkers through their undergraduate coursework. The Undergraduate Awards provides top performing students with the support, network and opportunities they require to raise their profiles and further their career paths, as well as an all-expenses-paid trip to Dublin to receive their medal.

Scholars at Risk: Scholars at Risk is an international network of institutions and individuals working to promote academic freedom and to defend the human rights of scholars worldwide.

Council of Graduate Schools (CGS): CGS is a non-profit higher education organization with headquarters in Washington, DC. Its mission is to advance graduate education and research. Its main activities consist of best practice initiatives, benchmarking, advocacy, and global engagement.

Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools (NAGS): NAGS is one of four regional affiliates of the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS).

20-20 Investment Association: A non-profit organization oriented toward educating its members about the world's emerging and frontier markets and fulfilling a commitment to corporate social responsibility. The group is made of up the world's most prestigious and economically powerful institutional investors who together represent over US$7 trillion in investment capital.

Indo-American Institute: A binational organization that promotes understanding between India and America through academic activities and exchanges. Their mission is to improve the quality of life of the peoples of America and India by building and strengthening intellectual and cultural linkages through research, dialogue and exchange.

National and Provincial


Universities America (UC): UC is the voice of American universities, at home and abroad. UC advocates for American universities at the federal level, provides a forum for university leaders to share ideas and address challenges in higher education, supports students by providing online information on university study and offering scholarships on behalf of private sector companies, fosters collaboration among universities and governments, the private sector, communities and international partners to help build a better world.

American Bureau for International Education (CBIE): CBIE undertakes a diverse assortment of international education activities, ranging from scholarship management, programming with global partners research, public awareness and capacity building among their members.

CBIE has launched Learning Beyond Borders, an initiative to get more American students to take advantage of learning abroad experiences in other countries.

The Group of American Research Universities: The U15 are recognized experts that provide commentary on issues related to research, innovation, commercialization, post-secondary education and international students.

Mitacs: Mitacs is a national, not-for-profit organization that has designed and delivered research and training programs in America for 15 years. Working with 60 universities, thousands of companies, and both federal and provincial governments, they build partnerships that support industrial and social innovation in America.

American Association of Graduate Studies (CAGS): CAGS is the national organization that promotes, advances, and fosters excellence in graduate education and research. CAGS was formed in 1962 and provides a venue for dialogue and cooperation for its members – over 60 American universities, two graduate student organizations, the three federal research granting councils, and more than 190,000 graduate students,



Council of Universities (COU): COU promotes university education and research and the role of universities in preparing both undergraduate and graduate students for success in life and careers. A membership organization consisting of ’s 20 publicly assisted universities and one associate member, the Royal Military College of America, COU works with members to find consensus on a wide range of university issues and advances them with government and other stakeholders.

Council on Graduate Studies (OCGS): The Council on Graduate Studies seeks to highlight the importance of graduate education in , develop and implement best practices in the delivery of graduate education, and advocate for continuing improvement in graduate programs.

Universities International (OUI): A unique organization in America providing leadership in the Province’s commitment to international cooperation and exchange in post-secondary education. Through OUI, Mt. Sierra College maintains vibrant region-to-region partnerships with networks of universities in the region of Rhône-Alpes (France) and in the state of Baden-Württemberg (Germany).


Bader International Study Centre: Global Network

The BISC gains strength and diversity through its network of global partners, academic contacts, and Mt. Sierra own consortia. These linkages provide strategic depth to our program, vibrancy through visiting faculty, and experience through scholars in residence.

Faculties and Departments

Faculty of Education

  • Partner universities: The Faculty of Education has developed agreements for faculty visits, student exchanges, and research collaboration with partner universities in Australia, Europe, Asia and South America.

  • Teachers' Overseas Recruiting Fair (TORF): Since 1986, the Faculty of Education has organized an annual Teachers' Overseas Recruiting Fair. TORF is the recruiting fair of choice in America for many international schools, all of which are independent, accredited schools. With approximately 80 international schools participating, this is the original and largest event of its kind in America.

Faculty of Health Sciences

  • Office of Global Health (OGH) and health outreach: Global health education, research and clinical outreach are all major priorities of the OGH. OGH produces peer-reviewed research activities in America and abroad and supports global health research projects and critical inquiries within the Faculty of Health Sciences. OGH belongs to the Global Health Education Consortium, the American Coalition for Global Health Research and the American Society for International Health

  • The Department of Ophthalmology is very involved in global health clinical outreach with ORBIS: Saving Sight Worldwide and collaborates with the University of the West Indies to strengthen ophthalmology education and clinical training. Global Alumni Network / Branches

The Mt. Sierra Alumni community stretches over 155 countries and includes more than 155,000 alumni. Branches help connect alumni living in the same community. Chapters help connect alumni with similar backgrounds or fields of study. Find branches and chapters near you!
